After a day of fails, getting this in the mail really made my day!
The Magic Waterfall Pets was the one sets I've really, really been wanting. I mean, look how gorgeous it is! đ I've been eyeing this for a while now and have been waiting for a good, complete set to come up. Although I admit there are a few flaws on this such as the deer missing it's right eye jewel, the marks on the fish, and the paint chip on the mercat's nose â this set is only one part away from being complete! The only thing missing is the orange hair jewel that has a velcro back. I didn't even realize when I bought it that it came with one of the hair jewels so that was a pleasant surprise.
The seller even wrapped it carefully and thoughtfully in this bright neon green tissue paper (that matched one of the hair pieces) which brought about such a sense of excitement. It made it happy, energetic, fun â and not to mention, a really nice contrast to the vibrant colors of the set.
I didn't grow up with this particular set but it won my heart once I dove into learning all things Kenner/Tonka Littlest Pet Shop. I'd say I even like this more than the highly sought-after Mommy Deer and Mommy Fox sets! It's so unique in the sense that it is one of the only sets that consist of mythical creatures. The only other sets that feature mythical pets are the Shimmering Pets which also consist of meranimals â one of which I have a partial set of btw! I'll be sharing that sometime ;)
I love the removable hair pieces so you can dress up the deer and mercat. Exchanging the hair pieces changes the pets' character in an instant. The hair pieces are pretty impressively designed. I was so surprised how vibrant the pink was in the pink and purple piece. I would describe it as a hot, highlight pink â it really pops! The crowns not only make a charming touch to the hair pieces but also creates a nice contrast.
This piece is very tangled but I see it as another opportunity to learn how to restore vintage toys â particularly old, frizzy hair so I'm actually looking forward to trying it out. Also, I didn't notice in the photos of this set that the green hair piece is also two-toned, which gives it a sense of dimension.
